Our Mission

Urban Artistry, Inc., is an internationally recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the performance and preservation of art forms inspired by the urban experience. Serving as cultural ambassadors for communities that are often unsung, the group fulfills its mission through effective collaborations that support artists’ past, present, and future.

About us

Our History

Since its establishment in 2005, Urban Artistry has humbly presented the international dance and arts communities with a renewed perspective on urban dance and arts. Drawing from the creativity of its founders, directors and international roster of members and affiliates, Urban Artistry has grown from the vision of one, to the mission of many. Though UA promotes education in foundational movement and history, these culturalists operate from the understanding that- culture is not stagnant; it is a living breathing entity that accepts change. However, growth does not mean one has to forget where they come from.

 I was a little hesitant to roll up to this class, being completely new to hip hop dance. But our instructor, Avery, could not have been more chill and kind and welcoming. I'm so grateful for the experience and I'd love to come back. If this spot were in DC, I could see making it a regular thing--but it's way out in Wheaton, MD, which is a bit of a hike without a car. If you can get there though, totally worth it.
